Kuyay Chocolates was founded by Carolina and Jonathan. The word "Kuyay" means love and harmony with nature in Quechua, the traditional language of the region where the family farm is located, in Bagua Grande, in the state of Amazonas. The farm has been producing exceptional aromatic cocoa for over 80 years, continuing the pure cocoa tradition of their grandparents.
The Kuyay family are committed to their farm and its surroundings. They are sensitive to the biodiversity of the region and give preference to producers in the surrounding area, promoting local cocoa growers. In this way, they contribute to the development of the cocoa-producing communities of Bagua Grande.
Kuyay is a true 'tree-to-bar' business, with the beans produced on the farm under the supervision of an agronomist. They are then used directly to make the chocolate bars. Carolina and Jonathan therefore have absolute control over the quality and traceability of the entire process.
Today, Kuyay chocolates have won 6 medals at the Chocolate Hall in Lima between 2017 and 2019, and are worthy representatives of the new wave of Peruvian chocolatiers.
